Aston Villa put in an impressive away performance last night, as Steve Bruce’s side left Elland Road with a valuable point thanks to a 1-1 draw with promotion rivals, Leeds United.

Leeds dominated the early exchanges and took a deserved lead through Pontus Jansson’s header inside the first 20 minutes, with Thomas Christiansen’s side playing the better football.

However, Bruce made two crucial changes, which swayed the control of the game.

Jack Grealish was introduced for Josh Onomah and Henri Lansbury replaced Conor Hourihane, with Lansbury’s impact particularly impressive, as he netted the game’s equaliser.

Hourihane’s contribution during the first 45 minutes was particularly disappointing for Aston Villa, with the 26-year-old midfielder struggling to adapt to the early pace of the game.

Lansbury’s impact off the bench has put Hourihane’s place in the starting XI under threat, and Villa’s supporters were quick to criticise the Irishman following last night’s draw.
