Luton Town currently find themselves bottom of the Championship table with just ten games to go, and the mood at the club is certainly different to how it was this time last season.

It has been a tough return to the second tier for the Hatters this term, as the Hatters have 34 points from their 36 games so far this campaign, their first season back in the Championship since 2006-07.

There has been a lot of change at the club over of the course of the last year. Graeme Jones took over the managerial reins in the summer, after Mick Harford's time as caretaker boss came to an end.

Luton's current league position also contrasts significantly with how they were doing last year.

On March 2 2019, the Hatters recorded their 22nd league win of the season, as they overcame Rochdale 2-0 at Kenilworth Road.

We look back at how the fans felt at the time on today's FLW Rewind, with promotion in Luton's sights...

That result saw Luton Town consolidate their position at the top of League One, as the Hatters chased their second consecutive promotion.

At this point, Mick Harford's side were five points clear of Barnsley in second place, with 75 points from their 35 games.

It also cannot be forgotten that the win over Rochdale stretched their unbeaten league run to 22 matches, the longest streak of any team in England's top four divisions.

That meant the feeling amongst the fan base was one of confidence that the job was almost completed.

The positive sequence of results continued up until April 13th, when Luton lost away at Charlton - which at the time was their first league defeat since October.

Nerves crept in as another loss to Burton followed in their penultimate game of the season, but it was in vain as Luton secured promotion as League One champions ahead of Barnsley.

The Hatters now have a different kind of objective to complete, and the players will want to channel the energy that got them over the line last season in their current battle to avoid the drop.
