Birmingham City fell to their third successive league defeat on Wednesday night, losing 2-0 to Millwall at the Den.

Blues have embarked on a dismal run of form of late, and Aitor Karanka’s side have slipped to 23rd in the Championship table, with the teams above them having a game in hand.

On Wednesday night, they were unable to respond to Saturday’s defeat to Luton Town, and fell to yet another defeat on the road.

Who did Blues face on the opening day of the Championship season?

A glaring error saw Millwall take the lead after only three minutes, with Jed Wallace pouncing onto Mikel San Jose’s backpass and slotting past Neil Etheridge.

Ben Thompson made it 2-0 on 75 minutes as he converted Shaun Hutchinson’s cross from close-range, and Blues were unable to ignite a response.

Their downfall started after three minutes, though, with San Jose’s massive error allowing Millwall to assert their dominance straight away.
