With the season less than two weeks away, Stoke manager Gary Rowett's thoughts will start to turn to which players he will select for the Potters Championship opener against Leeds on August 5.

The relegated side go to Elland Road on the first weekend of the new campaign and having been put through their paces, Rowett will have an idea which players he is going to pick to start the curtain raiser.

James McClean and Tom Ince have been bought in to add dynamism and width in a double transfer to improve productivity in the final third.

But with new signings inbound there are also players looking to leave following relegation, as Xherdan Shaqirir did with the Swiss international moving to Liverpool.

Here we look at three players who are unlikely to pull on a Stoke City shirt again...

The 25-year-old midfielder has plenty of talent but hasn't got anywhere near justifying his £18.3m price tag.

He spent an up-and-down season on loan at Toulouse last year and it seems his future lies away from the Bet365 Stadium.

There has been interest from Galatasaray and a clutch for French sides for the midfielder who does not look set to be apart of Stoke’s Championship charge this year.

After the Potters were relegated last season, Butland stood at the edge of his penalty area in tears.

You can sense how much success with Stoke means to him nut whilst he may have an affinity to the club, the stopper will be considering his future for the benefit of his career.

He has been the subject of interest that would whisk the 25-year-old back to the top flight immediately.

Chelsea have been linked with the England international and if they offer a substantial sum of money, Stoke might not be able to refuse.

His days at the Bet365 Stadium are certainly numbered.

After making the £14million switch from Galatasaray in January, he was one of Stoke’s best players.

The Senegal international does not want to stay at Stoke, however, and in an attempt to engineer a way out of the club, refused to show up for the pre-season training camp.

Having made that decision, the 27-year-old made it easy for manager Rowatt to axe the expensive signing ahead of the new season.
