Big-money midfielder axed: The Stoke City players likely to never pull the shirt on again

With the season less than two weeks away, Stoke manager Gary Rowett’s thoughts will start to turn to which players he will select for the Potters Championship opener against Leeds on August 5.

The relegated side go to Elland Road on the first weekend of the new campaign and having been put through their paces, Rowett will have an idea which players he is going to pick to start the curtain raiser.

James McClean and Tom Ince have been bought in to add dynamism and width in a double transfer to improve productivity in the final third. 

But with new signings inbound there are also players looking to leave following relegation, as Xherdan Shaqirir did with the Swiss international moving to Liverpool.
