Nathan Jones is wary of the threat Viktor Gyokeres poses ahead of Luton Town's hosting of Coventry City on Wednesday evening.

Luton Town have been a little better in defence than their numbers suggest this season having let in 16 goals from 11.9 expected goals, with half of the goals they have conceded coming in home games against Birmingham City and Swansea City.

Jones is confident that his backline can deal with Gyokeres and company's threat at Kenilworth Road as they look to push back into mid table. The former Stoke City manager revealed his awareness of the Swede's ability when he spoke to Luton Today.

He said: "I know Viktor, he’s been on loan before but now he’s starting to find his feet and he’s got a good home there.

"Whoever you come up against in the Championship, they’ve all got striking talents, and we have to make sure we minimalise any type of opportunity and defend well.
"If we do that, it’ll be about us." he added.
The Hatters kept two clean sheets and earned four points when they played the Sky Blues last season, Tom Lockyer and Reece Burke will be looking to emulating that success at the heart of defence on Wednesday evening, looking for a third Coventry shut-out in a row. The Verdict

Luton started the campaign so excitingly with a 3-0 win over newly promoted Peterborough United, the inconsistency that has followed will have been a little concerning for Nathan Jones and they will look to extend the four point gap between themselves and the relegation zone under the lights on Wednesday evening. Elijah Adebayo will be hoping to make amends for the sitter he missed at the Vitality Stadium last time out as Coventry arrive knowing that a win could see them break into the automatic promotions spots. Gyokeres is not a surprise package anymore and the Hatters' backline will be well versed in the threat he poses.
