Stoke City manager Nathan Jones has insisted that his outburst of emotion at the end of the club's recent clash with Fulham demonstrates just how much he cares about his side.

The 46-year-old, who was handed over the reins at the bet365 Stadium in January, celebrated with the club's supporters following the Potters' 2-0 victory over the Cottagers last Saturday.

Following a dismal start to the 2019/20 campaign which saw Stoke fail to win any of their opening 10 Championship clashes, Jones' side have experienced somewhat of a resurgence in form in recent weeks.

After securing an unlikely 2-1 victory over Swansea City, the Potters backed up this performance by overcoming Fulham.

Tyrese Campbell gave Stoke the lead in the first-half against the Cottagers before Lee Gregory sealed all three points by netting an 80th minute penalty.

Although Stoke are still in the Championship relegation zone, a victory over Sheffield Wednesday tonight could see them leapfrog the likes of Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough in the league standings.

Speaking to Stoke's official website about his emotional celebrations after last weekend's victory over Fulham, Jones said: "I want everyone to know that I care.

"I throw everything into it.

"I am very passionate about the way we play, the way we work, and sometimes that boils over into pure emotion.

"I can't help that, I was like that as a player, but especially as a manager because it's actually more important to me.

"This is not a job, it's a lifestyle."

The Verdict

With Jones determined to get things right at Stoke after a tough start to his time at the club, it will be intriguing to see whether he can win over the club's supporters in the coming weeks.

Given that the Potters are currently brimming with confidence, they will fancy their chances of securing a positive result tonight against Wednesday.

Providing that they do indeed secure all three points at Hillsborough, Stoke could use the momentum gained from this result to push on in the Championship.
