Stoke City manager Nathan Jones has admitted that he expects a decision to be made regarding his future at the club, if results do not improve soon.

The Potters have made a poor start to the new season and are currently bottom of the Championship table after taking just two points from a possible 27 so far this season.

A series of poor performances and disappointing results have increased the pressure on Jones, and it was reported over the weekend that Stoke have already started considering potential candidates to replace him as manager.

Jones has now admitted that the recent results have not been good enough and is worried that he could lose his job if the team do not start to pick up points soon.

"If results don't improve, I fully expect a decision to be made on my future. I fully expect it and I have no argument about it, absolutely not," Jones told Sky Sports. "If I'm honest, if this wasn't such the club that it was, and has the owners it has, I would've been gone a while ago because my results haven't been good enough and I know that. "We've changed a lot here but we haven't got results and that's the be-all and end-all. So trust me, I fully expect if I don't get results in the next few games that a decision will be made on my future."

However, Jones insisted that he will not walk away from his position as manager, as he is confident that his players have got what it takes to get their season back on track.

"I don't want to walk away from it because I feel this will turn, whether it's with me or with someone else, because there's a group there that are talented - they can do something."

The Potters are back in action when they face Huddersfield tomorrow night, with the Terriers also without a win this season.

The Verdict

You have to agree with Jones here. It's been a poor start to the season for Stoke and even though some of their performances haven't been that bad, the results have not been good enough this season and that's what the manager is judged on.

Jones is running out of time to turn things around and if I'm really honest, I'm a little surprised that he hasn't been sacked already. The board's patience is wearing thin and if results don't start to improve soon, he could be in big trouble.

Fair play for him for not walking away, but if Stoke lose against Huddersfield tomorrow night, that could be the final straw for him.
