Nathan Jones has insisted that he has the support of the Stoke City board, despite reports claiming that the Welshman is set to be sacked imminently.

The Potters fell to their eighth defeat of the campaign in midweek, losing 1-0 at home to fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town who were also yet to win a game this season before Tuesday night's clash.

It looked to be the final nail in the coffin for Stoke boss Jones, who delivered what almost felt like a farewell message to fans after another disappointing result, that leaves them sitting six points adrift of safety at the foot of the Championship table.

But despite the Mirror claiming that Jones is set to be sacked by the club, the Welshman has turned up for his pre-match press conference this afternoon, ahead of his side's trip to Swansea City this weekend.

Whilst also admitting that he was emotional after the game on Tuesday night, Jones insisted that he has the full support of the club's owners and board, and has been in conversation with them this morning.

Stoke have picked up just two points from their first 10 league matches this season, but will look to claim their first elusive win of the season against the new league leaders this weekend.

The Verdict

What an absolute mess this is turning out to be.

One minute, Jones is essentially saying goodbye after admitting that the "inevitable" was looking likely to happen, and now he's preparing his team for the trip to Swansea this weekend.

Stoke need to come out and make a statement and say what they are going to do. This isn't fair on Jones, the players, nor the fans whatsoever.
