Luton Town have become one of the better teams in the Championship under Nathan Jones and they’ll fancy their chances of picking up some more points this weekend against Hull.

However, Hatters boss Nathan Jones is aware that the Tigers could prove to be a real threat and said via Hull Live that it will be a "tough game" for his side and that they will have to be at their very best to take the points off the club on Saturday.

Luton will go into the game as favourites though, with the side now moving steadily up the table. Last season, the club surprised many by strolling into the play-off places and being one of the best teams to watch in the division. They wanted to pick up from where they left off this campaign but it didn’t quite start that way, with the club falling towards the relegation spots.

Normal service seems to have resumed now though for the Hatters. They beat Blackburn 2-0 last time around and have also lost only one of their last five outings. It is form that has seen them rise to 11th and into the top half of the table and they’ll want to get some more points on the board this weekend.

Hull have headed in the opposite direction. They started the season with a bang, the Tigers looking like their investment over the summer had paid off and that they could be the surprise package this year. They flew towards the top of the table and the goals of Oscar Estupinan were flying in. However, they have since tailed off and after four straight defeats, they are sitting just above the drop zone.

Even though the club are now looking relegation threatened though, Jones has warned his team that they cannot write off the Tigers and admitted that it won’t be easy for his side to get a victory this weekend. Speaking about the fixture then, he said: "I see Hull as another tough Championship game, I’d be foolish to do anything other than that. Whatever they do, whatever strengths they have we know about, what they can bring, they’ve got a striker who’s the top scorer in the league, so it’s a real tough game."

The Verdict

It’s been surprising just how quickly Hull have fallen down the table after their early season form in the Championship.

It shows the nature of the second tier and how quickly a team can drop down the league after a bad run of form too. They looked like they could be real play-off contenders this season but all of a sudden, the losses have piled up and they now look like they’ll struggle to stay up.

This weekend, Luton will be another tough team for Hull to face. If they can pull off a win or even a draw, then they will probably come away from the game happy. It won’t be an easy task though with Luton capable of beating any team in the league.

Nathan Jones has proven just how incredible he is as a manager by transforming Luton – and that fine form could continue this weekend for the Hatters.
