Stoke City boss Nathan Jones has admitted he 'gambled everything' by joining the club and admits he can have no complaints if he is sacked as their nightmare run continued last night.

The Potters are now without a win in ten games and rooted to the bottom of the Championship after fellow strugglers Huddersfield picked up a 1-0 win at the Bet365 Stadium last night.

Therefore, Jones' departure feels somewhat inevitable right now and the boss told the BBC just how much this poor form has impacted him and others.

"I gambled everything and it hasn't paid off. I left a wonderful club, a wonderful group of people that were really on their way up."

"I gambled with other people's lives as well, my staff's lives, my wife's life. That is the thing for me that is really hurting because I worked so hard to get to a certain position and it just hasn't worked out.

"I came to a wonderful club with wonderful owners, and I can't thank them enough. The fans have given me patience but I haven't repaid them."

The Staffordshire outfit are back in action against Swansea City this weekend with an international break following this fixture.

The verdict

This is a very honest message from Jones and you have to respect him for that and it shows just what a big impact football has on the lives of a manager.

But, as he has previously stated, it's a results business and right now Stoke are in massive trouble and for a variety of reasons things just haven't worked out for him at the club.

It seems a matter of time before his exit is confirmed and Jones appears to recognise that and he will have no complaints in terms of the backing he has had from key figures at Stoke.
