Nathan Jones has confirmed that Luke Berry will miss Luton Town's clash with Stoke City tomorrow, as stated during an interview with Luton Today.

The midfielder suffered a knee injury in Luton's game against Hull City a couple of weeks ago, forcing Jones into an early substitution.

Berry, whose season has been disrupted with injuries this season, has shown his class importance when fully fit, chipping in with four goals and two assists in just 436 of Championship football thus far.

The 29-year-old signed for The Hatters in 2017, proceeding to play integral roles in Luton's promotions from League's One and Two.

Speaking to Luton Today about Berry and his current situation, Jones said: “When you open up a medial it’s not a bad injury, but when you do come back, you can run, you can sprint, you can do everything.

"It’s just when you’re hitting and bending balls and he’s a good technician, so he uses every conceivable shot and pass.

"It doesn’t help that he is that as that’s what opens up the knee.

"He won't be back before the international break and praise the lord, he’s got two weeks of the international break where he doesn’t miss anything.

"So hopefully he’ll be back by the QPR game or the game after."

The verdict

Given the summer Luton had, not many fans would have expected Berry to be so influential early on in this campaign, but he has certainly shone.

It is not just his goalscoring contributions that have boosted The Hatters, with his intelligence when pressing and whilst in possession, also helping his side both in and out of possession.

He is a player who is certainly missed when not available, but Jones has several options when it comes to the midfield, although, Henri Lansbury is also missing for the Stoke clash, after picking up a fifth yellow card this season.

Admiral Muskwe looks a likely candidate to step into the attacking midfield role on Saturday, but equally, Jones may opt to not deploy a midfielder that high up tomorrow.
