Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic's name has cropped up once again as one of the candidates to replace Antonio Conte as manager of Chelsea, according to the Evening Standard.

Conte hasn't left the club, but he doesn't appear to have a future at the club even though he just won them the FA Cup, with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United, as well as the Premier League last season

The managerial shortlist to replace him is extremely varied with Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri and former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique just some of the names that have been rumoured alongside Jokanovic.

His links with the job show just how much of an impact he has made in his time at Fulham. They haven't achieved promotion yet, but they have finished in the play-offs for consecutive seasons and have a final against Aston Villa awaiting them. It's the way they have achieved this which is drawing the most attention, though, because their high technical standard of play wouldn't be amiss in the Premier League.

The Verdict

The Cottagers deserve the chance to play in the Premier League in their current set-up because they are thoroughly entertaining. However, Villa won't be easy by any means because they are desperate to return to the top division as well. Failing to achieve promotion could see Jokanovic, Tom Cairney and Ryan Sessegnon leave, so this is a pivotal game.

This move seems to too early in Jokanovic's career, though, because fighting for the play-offs is completely different from competing for the Premier League title.
