Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has again been called up to the Poland national team ahead of their upcoming fixtures against Israel and Slovenia.

Mateusz Klich has continued to be a key member of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side this season as he is yet to miss a league game since the Argentine’s appointment in the summer of 2018.

Klich was seemingly on the fringes of international football when he signed for Leeds in 2017, having made his last international appearance in 2014.

The arrival of Bielsa and sudden rise to prominence has made Klich a regular for the Poland side that boasts some great talent in Robert Lewandowski, as well as fellow Championship players Kamil Grosicki and Krystian Bielik.

Klich’s Leeds career did not get off to the best start with inconsistent game-time in his first season compounded by a horror-show away to Cardiff meaning he was cast out by then-manager Thomas Christiansen, sent on-loan to FC Utrecht.

The midfielder came back with a point to prove after a dazzling half-season in the Dutch Eredivisie and made it very well, hitting double figures for goals and registering eight assists in Bielsa’s first season in charge. This season has seen the goals dry up somewhat, with Klich scoring and assisting one each so far this season.

Klich is still seen as an integral member of this promotion-chasing Leeds side but his underwhelming performances in the final third this season have divided opinion amongst fans.

Here, we take a look at how fans have reacted to the news of another call up for the midfielder…
