Leeds United have entered into talks to bring Everton defender Matthew Pennington back to the club on a season-long loan deal, but it's fair to say reaction to the possible deal has been mixed.

The 23-year old spent last season on loan at Elland Road, but struggled to settle after picking up an ankle injury on the opening day. He made 24 appearances, but became tarnished by the same failure that followed 13 senior players out of the door this summer.

Leeds have been linked with moves for a centre back this pre-season, Kyle Bartley was heavily linked until his switch to West Brom, but as the days ebb away, time is running short and now a loan for Pennington seems to be the best option.

It's fair to say the news hasn't been greeted warmly on Twitter, with Leeds fans less than eager to see the Toffees' defender return for another season. Aside from the odd one or two messages, the swoop has been condemned as bad business.
