Murray Wallace has stated that new Millwall signing Ryan Woods has quality that you want to welcome within the squad.

The midfielder made his Lions debut on the weekend and was exceptional throughout the match as Millwall dispatched an in-form Reading side 2-0 in front of a lively home crowd.

Gary Rowett has managed to do a superb job since he took over as Millwall manager and he is now targeting the top six of the division.

His decision to bring in Woods from his former side is seemingly one that has gone down well, not just with the supporters, but also with experienced players in the squad, such as Wallace.

Speaking to NewsAtDen, Wallace said: "It’s been great to get Ryan Woods in. I think he had been a target to get in and you saw the way he just gelled in and as players we want to make it at as welcoming as possible. I think he’s enjoying it so far. We aren't going to make players feel uncomfortable.

"When you get a player the quality of Ryan coming in you welcome it and you want them to be part of the squad right away."

The Verdict

Millwall have been brilliant in recent months, and they now have a serious chance of making into the Championship top six come the end of the season. They're one of the form teams and have been playing some excellent stuff - even away from home.

There's a big opportunity with the how tight the current table is and the Lions now have to make sure that they keep their crucial players, such as Ryan Woods, fit and healthy for the next few pivotal months.

Rowett has shown his Championship ability over the last few months, and if he could guide them to a stunning promotion then it would go down as one of the biggest shocks the division has seen over recent years.
