New Norwich boss Daniel Farke joins the club with the expectation of launching a promotion push this season, but may have to do so without academy graduate Jacob Murphy, who looks set for a move to Premier League bound Newcastle.
Rafa Benitez has expressed an interest in bringing the youngster to the north east, and Murphy will surely jump at the chance of playing in the top tier for the first time in his young career.
If Murphy departs, Farke can expect to have a sizeable fee to reinvest into his squad, and will look at potential replacements for the young star across the Football League.
One man who may emerge as an option is Scunthorpe’s Josh Morris, who lit up League One last season with a series of scintillating performances that fired the Iron to third in the division.
Morris was unbelievable last season and played a direct role in 36 league goals last season, which included 19 strikes from midfield.
Scunthorpe will be keen to keep hold of their star man this summer, but with Norwich’s transfer budget bulging, a big money offer may prove too much for boss Graham Alexander to resist.
Morris is yet to prove himself at Championship level, but after such a prolific campaign at the top of League One, shouldn’t find the transition too difficult.
The 25-year-old is a top talent and will almost certainly be playing his football at a higher level next season, and Farke should make sure that he is the man reaping the rewards of this extremely talented midfielder.
Norwich fans- would Morris be a decent replacement for Jacob Murphy? Let us know below…
