Watford could be in for an interesting summer transfer window, with Xisco Munoz's side recently winning promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Hornets were relegated from the top-flight last season, but have put together an impressive run of results in the second-half of this year's campaign to pull clear of their promotion-chasing rivals in the Championship.

Watford kept the majority of their squad from the Premier League in the 2019/20 season together for this year's campaign, and that experience and quality has shown at times this season.

The Vicarage Road faithful will be hoping that their side can establish themselves as Premier League regulars for years to come from now on, and avoid relegation back into the second-tier next term.

For that to happen, we could see Munoz dip into the transfer market in the summer, whilst also keeping the core group of his squad together.

We take a look at how Watford's starting XI could look ahead of the 2021/21 league campaign in the Premier League.

Take a look at which player starts us off between the posts, on the next page....

Karl Darlow could potentially be in between the posts for Watford next season, with The Sunday Mirror (18th April, page 62) recently claiming that the Hornets could be offered the chance to sign the Newcastle United goalkeeper.

Darlow has found regular game time hard to come by in this year's campaign, with the shot-stopper often being Newcastle's second-choice goalkeeper, with Steve Bruce often opting to start with Martin Dubravka.

But when he has been called upon, Darlow has shown that he's more than up to the task of keeping his team in matches at various points in the season.

At the age of 30, he could prove to be a stronger option to have in goal for Watford, ahead of the likes of Ben Foster and Daniel Bachmann.

Kiko Femenia has caught the eye with a number of strong performances for Watford's first-team this season, and you would expect him to be given a chance in the Premier League.

The right-back has made 37 appearances in all competitions this season, and has been a threat at both ends of the pitch, with Femenia chipping in with four assists for Xisco Munoz's side.

You would expect that Femenia will be busier next season with the defensive side of things, with Watford likely to be on the back foot more than they have been in this year's league campaign in the Championship.

Sierralta has gone from strength to strength in the Championship with Watford, and the Vicarage Road faithful hold the defender in high regard.

At the of 23, he's still got plenty of years to develop into a fine defender, and if the early stages of his time with the Hornets is anything to go by, then he could be a player that could thrive in the Premier League.

He has formed an impressive partnership alongside William Troost-Ekong in recent months, and that defensive solidarity has been key to Watford's promotion into the top-flight this term.

The challenge of playing in the Premier League is completely different compared to the Championship, but Xisco Munoz will be hoping that he stand up to the challenge.

William Troost Ekong is the next central defender likely to be in the Watford starting XI ahead of the 2021/22 season in the Premier League.

The defender signed for the club in the summer of 2020, and has gone on to settle into life at Vicarage Road well with the Hornets.

He has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Xisco Munoz's side this season, and has formed an impressive partnership in the heart of the Watford defence alongside Francisco Sierralta.

If he can continue to impress, then he'll become a key member of the Watford team for years to come.

Kean Bryan could be another player that is signed during the summer transfer window, with the Sheffield United defender being out-of-contract at the end of this year's campaign.

It's been a frustrating season for the Blades, as their relegation from the Premier League has already been confirmed earlier this year.

Bryan has established himself as a regular in the starting XI in recent months for Sheffield United, and Watford are reportedly interested in a deal to sign him according to The Sun on Sunday (11th April, page 67).

He could challenge the likes of Adam Masina for his starting spot in the Watford team next season in the top-flight.

Nathaniel Chalobah is next up, with the former Chelsea midfielder catching the eye with a number of impressive performances for the Hornets this term.

The 26-year-old has made 32 league starts in this year's campaign, and has formed a hugely impressive partnership in the midfield three alongside Will Hughes and Tom Cleverley.

Chalobah will feel as though he has a point to prove in the Premier League as well, having previously struggled for consistent minutes in the top-flight last season.

He was also completely frozen out of the Chelsea first-team earlier in his season, and will be eager to make his mark next season in the Premier League.

Tom Cleverley was a regular for Watford whilst they were in the Premier League last season, and that's expected to remain the case ahead of next year's campaign.

Cleverley has made 33 appearances for Xisco Munoz's side this season, and has played an important role in their promotion-winning campaign.

At the age of 31, Cleverley will feel as though he's learnt from the experience of relegation, and has gone from strength to strength in the Watford team this term.

If he can continue to impress, then he's likely to be one of the first names on Munoz's team-sheet moving forwards.

Jacob Murphy could be another new signing that Watford include in their starting XI next season, but only if they reach an agreement with Newcastle United to prize him away from St James' Park.

Murphy has found regular game time hard to come by with the Magpies in this year's campaign, with the winger making 26 appearances in all competitions this term.

The Sun have recently reported that Watford are rivalling the likes of Burnley, Southampton and Rangers to the potential signing of Murphy, although it remains to be seen as to which club is leading the race to strike a deal with the Premier League side.

It is also claimed that a deal in the region of £6million could be discussed between Watford and Newcastle United heading into the summer.

Ismaila Sarr is a certain starter in the Watford squad if he sticks around at Vicarage Road during the summer transfer window.

The winger has been nothing short of sensational for the Hornets in this year's promotion-winning season from the Championship under the management of Xisco Munoz.

Sarr has chipped in with 13 goals and ten assists in all competitions so far this season, and will fancy his chances of replicating similar numbers when in the Premier League.

Sarr has previously been a long-term target for Manchester United, but Watford will be hoping that they can keep hold of their star man for next season.

Ike Ugbo is next up, with the Chelsea forward being linked with a move to Watford ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Athletic have revealed that the Hornets are keen on a deal in the region of £5million for the forward, who is currently out on loan with Belgian side Cercle Brugge.

Ugbo has been in good form for them as well, with the 22-year-old scoring 17 goals from his 34 appearances in this year's campaign in the Belgian top-flight.

He is out-of-contract at the end of the 2020/21 season with Chelsea, and the Belgian side hold the option to make his loan a permanent switch, although it seems unlikely that they'll be able to match Watford's interest.

Joao Pedro is likely to lead the line for Watford, and could potentially partner Ugbo in attack in the Premier League, which could cause defenders problems.

The forward has been a regular for the Hornets in the Championship this term, and has scored nine goals and been on hand to provide four assists from his 39 appearances.

The Vicarage Road will be hoping that Pedro can go from strength to strength moving forward, and if he can build on these strong performances in the second-tier, then the striker could be a real handful in the Premier League for Xisco Munoz's side.
