European giants Real Madrid are among a host of clubs interested in signing West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi, according to reports from Turkish media outlet Aksam.

The 28-year-old has become a regular for Darren Moore's men this season.

The Egyptian centre-half has made 33 appearances in all competitions this term, and has played an integral part in helping the Baggies up the Sky Bet Championship table and to within touching distance of the automatic promotion places.

Reports have now surfaced, that, as well as Turkish side Fenerbahce and Sky Bet Championship, rivals Stoke City, European giants Real Madrid have declared an interest in the player.

It is understood that Fenerbache's interest in the player is "more serious" at this stage, though whoever wants to pursue Hegazi's signature may have to spend big - his contract doesn't expire at The Hawthorns until the summer of 2022 according to the Birmingham Mail.

Darren Moore's men currently sit 4th in the Championship table, seven points off the top two.

The Verdict

Wow - this is a very interesting transfer story, and I am sure that West Brom fans would never have imagined that Real Madrid would be after one of their players.

Hegazi has been excellent for West Brom this season and has put in a string of impressive performances for Darren Moore's men.

Is he replaceable though? Yes, he is - the Baggies could definitely find better out there if he left for a hefty fee.

He'd be a very good signing for Stoke too, but I'm sure Hegazi would rather move to Madrid or Fenerbache if the offer came about.
