Tony Mowbray has been talking about the blend he has within his squad that has fired Blackburn to within a whisker of an immediate return to the second-tier.

His side need one more win to be certain, but could be confirmed as a Championship side tomorrow night whatever they do if Shrewsbury fail to beat Peterborough.

He confirmed the atmosphere in the camp is positive and it is the unique mix of character he has within the squad that has contributed to the season's outcome.

"The spirit in the dressing room is massive and that’s so important but we still have a job to do," he told rovers.co.uk. "We’ve got a good blend of youth and experience. First and foremost, we’ve got some good guys who understand that hard work and honesty will take you a long way."

He paid tribute to players across the pitch, from the forwards to defenders.

"Having togetherness and commitment to the cause is important and all of those human traits which they bring to training every day are vital. On top of that, they have to have talent; if you’re a defender you need bravery, if you’re an attacker you need creativity. All of those things roll into one and give you a good football team, and we’ve shown that’s what we are."

Rovers travel to Doncaster and Charlton before hosting Oxford United on the final day of the season.

The Verdict

Blackburn have been excellent all season and set the pace for much of it whilst Wigan performed their cup heroics. Since Wigan have overtaken them they've remained focused on the job in hand and only a real upset would result in them enduring a play off ordeal.

The trick is to carry that momentum forward into next season, just as Millwall have done.
