The 2016/17 season will most definitely go down as a disappointment despite expectations early on that the West London outfit could challenge for the top six.

Those hopes quickly diminished as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's reign at Loftus Road came to an end, although a few groups of the fan base thought the appointment of Ian Holloway could revitalise the club's campaign.

That didn't turn out to be the case and in fact the former Premier League boss nearly took Queens Park Rangers into a relegation battle, but they have only just survived following six straight league defeats.

One thing Holloway has succeeded in is allowing several starlets amongst the fringes, or out on loan, to flourish in the first-team and a few have made quite the impression amid supporters.

Some of these players will be vital in the next twelve months, whatever the club's ambitions are for 2018.

Here are 3 youngsters who could help Queens Park Rangers push up the table next season.

Darnell Furlong

The 21-year-old has become a regular name on the team sheet since his return to Loftus Road following a loan spell at League One outfit Swindon Town.

Darnell Furlong has made 14 appearances for Queens Park Rangers in the second half of the campaign and looks to have won the fans over.

With bags of potential to be fulfilled, Furlong could be a vital youngster in the defence of Holloway's squad next season.

Sean Goss

Despite only making a handful of appearances for QPR following his arrival in January, Sean Goss could play a pivotal midfielder in Ian Holloway's side next year if they aim to make the play-offs.

The 21-year-old has only played in six matches in the three months he's been at Loftus Road and perhaps needs to do more to impress the current boss.

If Goss decides to up his game during pre-season, then the former Manchester United youngster may earn his right to be the starting eleven for the 2017/18 season and become an important man in the heart of midfield.

Michael Petrasso

The Canadian international is one of the rising stars at Queens Park Rangers and it's just a matter of time before he starts making a real impression in the senior squad.

Michael Petrasso arrived in West London when he crossed the pond and opted for Loftus Road instead of continuing his career at Toronto in his home land.

The 21-year-old winger may work on his game in the summer, however, the boss needs to give the player more minutes on the pitch and that can start in the pre-season schedule.
