Middlesbrough have released their retained list for next season.

Martin Cranie and Tomas Mejias are both leaving the club as free agents due to their contracts not being renewed.

Lewis Baker, Mo Besic and Jack Harrison all move back to their Premier League parent clubs while Antonio Barragan, Martin Braithwaite, Julien De Sart and Ashley Fletcher come back to the club after having spells away.

Neither Cranie or Mejias will be missed because they rarely featured with Cranie limited to nine league appearances, and eight of those were from the bench, while Mejias didn't feature at all for the senior side.

Cranie's contract was short-term because he only joined in January due to Boro needing cover for Ryan Shotton at right-back, so this was always likely to happen while Mejias has been at the club since 2014, but rarely featured because he was mainly used as back-up for a number of goalkeepers.
