Swansea City should look at moving Alfie Mawson on quickly.

The 24-year-old was drawing the attention of top-flight sides even before the Welsh side were relegated. Now that they have been, his departure seems inevitable. With the start of the season racing ever closer, the Swans should move on fast so Graham Potter can build a clear idea of what his starting XI will be as soon as possible.

Mawson was an ever-present for Swansea in 2017/18, as he played every single minute of the league season. The centre-back was a rare bright spot for a side that was too goal shy to ever stand much chance of staying up. While they were far from watertight at the back, Mawson helped ensure that Swansea had the second strongest defence of the bottom nine clubs.

Swansea would stand a better chance of bouncing straight back to the Premier League if Mawson stayed than if he left. However, with clubs interested, there is little chance that he will be lining up in Swansea colours on the 4th of August. Consequently, the focus must be on bringing in a capable replacement as soon as possible. The transfer window has just a month left to run and sides could easily be caught out.

Swansea should look to move Mawson on quickly. With the help of parachute payments, the purchase of a quality replacement should not prove difficult. However, they will want to secure that player before they get too far into pre-season.
