Huddersfield Town are back in action this weekend as they host Wigan Athletic in a hugely important fixture at the bottom of the Championship.

Danny Cowley has overseen an improvement in the Huddersfield performances since taking over as the club’s boss, but they still have to look over their shoulders in the coming nine games.

This weekend, though, a win could lay down a huge marker, with Wigan in a similar position to the Terriers in the table and a single point separating the sides heading into the game.

Here, we take a look at the men we are expecting Cowley to task with picking up the important three points…

Lossl has been good since returning to Town on loan and Cowley will retain faith with the goalkeeper.

He’s a cool and experienced head.

Simpson’s experience is going to be vital in the run-in.

He’s been a regular since arriving and an automatic pick when available.

A lot like the two before him, Stearman is an experienced option and will be important in the run-in.

Since arriving, he’s put in some really good performances.

Schindler is the Town skipper and another instant selection.

The captain will have a big say on the relegation battle and he will be tasked with leading from the front.

Toffolo has been exceptional since signing for Huddersfield and is the most exciting player in this defensive unit.

He’s got bundles of energy and will be a firm favourite with the fans over his career in West Yorkshire.

Chalobah is a player that’s slowly growing over the course of his loan spell, getting better with every 90 minutes he plays.

Cowley will like the thought of his energy after a long break.

O’Brien was one of Huddersfield’s standout players before the postponement.

His energy, alongside Chalobah, will give Wigan a number of problems.

It’s a good combination.

Bacuna is in and out of the side, but whenever he plays, he offers a threat.

He’s got goals in him, but Cowley really likes his work ethic, which might pave the way for him to have a run in the side during this unique kick-off.

The Arsenal loanee is a classy operator and someone that Cowley will turn to for a creative spark in the run-in.

He’s impressed since moving to Huddersfield and will be looking to finish his loan positively.

Grant is Huddersfield’s top goalscorer and is chasing 20+ goals this season.

Cowley likes him to operate from the left, where he is a real threat.

He might be the difference for Huddersfield in this relegation battle.

Mounie and Fraizer Campbell usually compete for the striking role in Cowley’s 4-2-3-1 system, with it our belief that the former will get the nod this weekend.

He offers a bigger goalscoring threat, which eases the burden on Grant.
