It’s been a tough few years for Sunderland, who have fallen from the Premier League and into League One, with Jack Ross currently preparing his side for the third tier of English football.

Many are hoping that Sunderland are embarking on a fresh start, but there are still a number of players still on the club’s books who played for them in the Premier League.

Lee Cattermole is amongst them, with the midfielder a regular at the Stadium of Light since 2009.

Last season, the 30-year-old made 35 appearances in the Championship, but was unable to prevent Sunderland slipping to a second successive relegation.

It remains to be seen whether Cattermole has a major role to play under Ross, after a difficult couple of years for the experienced midfielder.

Here at FLW, we wanted to find out what Sunderland’s supporters were thinking, asking them if they believe Cattermole will be a regular starter next season.

65% of voters in our poll aren’t expecting to see the 30-year-old starting regularly under Ross next season, but a reasonably big percentage is.

The remaining 35% are expecting to see Cattermole starting regularly in League One.
