Charlton Athletic striker Chuks Aneke came off the bench to salvage a point for his side against Gillingham yesterday and many Addicks fans have heaped praise on the forward.

Lee Bowyer opted with Conor Washington and Omar Bogle from the start but neither was able to find the breakthrough, with the former missing a penalty after a disagreement over who should take it.

The Gills went ahead through a penalty of their own in the second half, with Jordan Graham making no mistake from the spot.

Charlton, who headed into the game having won their last six in a row in the league, were able to salvage a point late on when Aneke capitalised on some poor defending to score his fourth goal of the season.

The result leaves Bowyer's men in fifth and will have raised yet more questions about who should be leading the line for the south London club moving forward.

Aneke has now scored four goals in all competitions this season, despite being restricted to just one start in League One so far.
