Micah Richards was once described as a key part of England's defence for the future.

A solid part of Premier League giants Manchester City's defence, with a wealth of Premier League experience. Now Aston Villa fans are willing to let Richards depart the club after failing to make an appearance for nearly two years.

It was recently reported that the former England defender had not featured for Aston Villa in over 500 days and could be set to almost double his wages if Steve Bruce's side reach the Premier League next season, this is despite the 29-year-old not having made an appearance since October 2016 - Bruce's first game in charge.

Now with John Terry at the centre of Villa's defence, they have the man they need to lead the back-line, and with Richards constantly injured and suffering a longstanding knee injury, now could be the time for Richards to depart the West Midlands club.

We took to Twitter to ask Villa fans their thoughts on Richards and do you think Micah Richards will finally depart Villa Park in the summer?

With 77% of votes, a clear indication of the Villa Park faithful's views on the former England star - he's no longer needed at the club - and without an appearance the majority of two seasons, he is a clear waste of wages.

Villa fans, let us know in the comments below - what are your thoughts on Richards, and is there a place for him at Villa Park if he can get himself fit again?
