Despite all the negativity surrounding Derby County going into the 2021-22 season, the Rams' first week of the campaign may have surprised some.

Wayne Rooney was desperate for additions going into the first match of the season against Huddersfield Town last weekend, and he managed to get four over the line in Ryan Allsop, Curtis Davies, Richard Stearman and Ravel Morrison, and following that a 1-1 draw against the Terriers was achieved.

Despite not having the most depth in his squad, Rooney had to shuffle the pack against Salford City in midweek in the Carabao Cup, and his youthful side went to penalties against the League Two outfit and progressed into the second round.

Have any players who featured on Tuesday played their way into a league start against Peterborough though? Let's look at the probable line-up.

As you can see there is only one change from the opening day draw with Huddersfield and that's a place in the starting 11 for Ravel Morrison, who made his debut against Salford in midweek and impressed, scoring Derby's third to take the match to penalties.

Youngster Louie Watson played on the left against the Yorkshire side at Pride Park on Saturday but he will most likely drop to the bench to accommodate Morrison.

And even though there were some other impressive performances from youngsters on Tuesday such as Festy Ebosele, it may be too early to throw them into league action when Nathan Byrne is still fit and firing at right-back.

There's not too many surprises though and if Rooney is allowed to bring in some more players over the course of the next few weeks then perhaps his starting 11's will become a lot harder to predict.
