Cardiff City’s season gets underway later this week with the visit of Norwich City on Saturday.

Steve Morison has been preparing his side for the last several weeks in order to be ready for this tough opening day clash.

New signings have arrived in the shape of Callum O’Dowda, Romaine Sawyers and Andy Rinomhota just to name a few.

The Canaries will be one of the favourites for promotion having been recently relegated from the top flight.

But the Bluebirds themselves will be aiming to fight higher up the Championship table this season having finished 18th last term.

But before Saturday’s kick-off, here are the latest news headlines you may have missed…

Steve Morison issues pre-season verdict

The Cardiff boss has claimed that his team are on the right path with the season now only a few days away.

Their recent pre-season friendly fixture with Swindon Town offered Morison the chance to evaluate his squad one last time before kick-off on Saturday.

He has been pleased to see the team’s progress on the pitch and believes their ability to score goals will be vital this season.

Despite some defensive lapses, the 38-year old was delighted to see his team routinely find the back of the net this pre-season.

Cedric Kipre update

The West Brom player has arrived at South Wales on loan for the season ahead.

But that temporary move could be made permanent in 12 months’ time if Cardiff are pleased with his progress in the team.

The club is reportedly interested in keeping their options over the future of the Ivorian.

However, if he impresses he may end up finding that he still has a future with the Baggies.

It may yet depend on the league status of both clubs following the conclusion of the season.

Swindon Town victory

Cardiff’s final pre-season game came last weekend as they sealed a 4-2 victory over Swindon Town.

Max Watters, Rinomhota and Ryan Wintle all scored first half goals, before Sheyi Ojo scored the final strike in the second half.

Two concessions marred an otherwise fine performance for the team that has rounded off a successful pre-season.

The team will now be preparing in training over the coming days to fully ready themselves for the first game of the campaign.
