‘More to come’ – 29-year-old wins the plaudits of these Portsmouth fans after Plymouth clash

Published

on

Portsmouth saw their four-match winning run on the road in League One come to an end at home specialists Plymouth Argyle on Monday night.

Kenny Jackett’s side had recorded four consecutive victories away from home in recent months, and looked good value to extend that run to five thanks after goals from John Marquis and Tom Naylor had cancelled out Sean Raggett’s early own goal.

But Pompey were unable to see the game out, and Jerome Opoku found himself in the right place to earn the Pilgrims a crucial point with 11 minutes left to maintain their unbeaten home run since their promotion.

Whilst Portsmouth fans were frustrated at dropping two points, they were full of praise for their captain Naylor, whose well-placed finish was his second goal in as many matches, which is more than the midfielder has managed in his previous 54 appearances combined.
