Leonard Slutsky's new-look Hull City side recovered from a shaky first half display to grab a 1-1 draw at Villa Park, taking a point from former manager Steve Bruce's Aston Villa on the opening weekend of the Championship season.

The Tigers' back four, including three debutantes, looked all at sea in the first half, as was demonstrated by the ease of which Gabriel Agbonlahor's opening goal was scored, after just seven minutes of the match.

The visitors were lucky to go in at the break just the one goal down, but Slutsky's half-time team talk had the desired effect as Hull started the second half much the better side, and got a deserved equaliser when the outstanding Kamil Grosicki's cross was volleyed home by youngster Jarrod Bowen.

An injury to Frazier Campbell took the wind out of the Tigers' sails to the extent that they settled for a draw but the Hull City fans on Twitter reacted happily to the result - there is an understanding that the new arrivals need time to settle and more new signings are needed in order to put together a squad built for the rigours of the Championship.
