Derby County manager Gary Rowett has sought permission to speak to Stoke City over their vacant managerial post.

And Derby confirmed yesterday in an official statement on the club's website that they have granted Rowett permission to hold talks with the Potters.

It is thought that Stoke would have to pay Derby about £2m for the former Birmingham City and Burton Albion boss.

Stoke previously tried to capture Rowett when they sacked Mark Hughes in January but they failed in that attempt and he signed a new deal at Pride Park instead.

Paul Lambert was instead appointed as Stoke manager but he failed to keep his side in the Premier League and left after they were relegated.

We asked Derby fans if Rowett's decision to hold negotiations with Stoke disappointed them and here are the results:

The results show that 59% of Derby fans are disappointed by Rowett's decision.

The 44-year-old painted himself as someone who is very loyal, especially after Stoke's previous move for him fell through, and Derby supporters were convinced he was invested in the long-term project.

This recent revelation has proven that Rowett was not really as loyal as he made out and more than half of the Derby fans polled were disappointed by this latest news.
