David Prutton is expecting Sheffield Wednesday to extend their unbeaten run in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend against Reading when the pair meet at the Madejski Stadium, reports Sky Sports.
Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted Carlos Carvalhal’s Owls to record a 2-1 victory over Reading this weekend, as two of last season’s top-six meet at the Madejski.
Carvalhal finds himself under huge pressure at Hillsborough, with Sheffield Wednesday currently 11th, way short of where many expected them to be in the Championship this season.
However, the Owls enter Saturday’s contest on the back of a five match unbeaten run and following a morale boosting 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town on Wednesday evening, where Carvalhal’s side were saved by a late Atdhe Nuhiu equaliser.
Whilst Sheffield Wednesday are struggling to replicate last season’s magnificent form, so are Reading, who find themselves sat 19th in the table heading into the weekend.
However, Jaap Stam’s side have two victories in their last four fixtures, and themselves will be boosted by a late midweek comeback.
Reading found themselves trailing 2-0 against Bolton on Tuesday, but battled back to claim a point thanks to goals from Liam Moore and Leandro Bacuna.
This is set to be a good clash, between two sides who have plenty of ability, but have failed to show it yet this season.
Reading are in a good run of form at this current time, and it is a surprise to hear that Prutton is predicting an away victory, particularly with Wednesday still far from convincing in their recent run.
Whilst the EFL pundit is predicting a narrow away victory, a home victory could well be on the cards.
