Kemar Roofe is making good progress following his injury setback, with Marcelo Bielsa confirming that Leeds United are continuing to monitor his and Adam Forshaw’s improvement.

Leeds lost Roofe last month to a knee ligament injury, with the 26-year-old left facing a significant spell on the sidelines.

After his 14-goal haul, many saw Roofe’s injury as a significant blow, but Patrick Bamford and stepped up, whilst others returning have eased the pressure on Bielsa’s squad.

Forshaw is now the only other senior player joining Roofe in the treatment room, but like the forward, he’s making good progress.

“They are improving every day,” Bielsa told Leeds Live.

“They are making the positive steps we thought they were going to make and we are following their improvement.”

The last time we saw Forshaw in a Leeds shirt was the 3-1 defeat to Norwich City in early February, whilst Roofe’s injury came a couple of games later against Swansea.

Since the latter’s setback, Leeds have won three from four, maintaining a strong position in the Championship’s promotion race.

Next up is a clash with Reading on Tuesday evening, with Bielsa also confirming to Leeds Live that Patrick Bamford is fit enough to lead the line in the absence of Roofe.

He has four goals in his last four appearances.

The Verdict

This is good news for Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa.

Roofe in particular is an important part of this squad and his return will boost Bielsa’s options going forward, which can only be a good thing.

There’s a lot of pressure on Bamford right now and, whilst he’s dealing with it, he will need Roofe’s support before long.
