Leeds United midfielder Alfie McCalmont scored a stunning goal for the Northern Ireland U21s last night, which has excited many fans of the Whites.

McCalmont came off the bench against the Hungary U21s and scored the equaliser for Northern Ireland–his first goal for the U21s.

In a game of few chances, Hungary took the lead late in the first half as Adrian Szoke forced the ball over the line after a goalmouth scramble.

McCalmont pulled his side back level in the second half, curling a shot into the top corner from 20 yards out.

The 19-year-old's next chance to impress for his country may come in the U21 Euro 2021 qualifier against Romania U21s on Tuesday.

A product of the Leeds academy, McCalmont made his first-team debut this season, coming off the bench in the 3-0 win against Salford City in the First Round of the Carabao Cup in August.

The teenager made his first start for the senior side in the next round of the competition later that month, starting in the defeat to Stoke City.

The North Ireland U21 international was also an integral figure in the Leeds U23s side that won the Professional Development League North title last season and appears to have a bright future.

His strike last night has caught the attention of many Whites supporters, who took to Twitter to express their excitement.
