David Prutton is expecting Sheffield Wednesday to pile more misery on Bolton Wanderers this weekend when they travel to the Macron Stadium, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted that Bolton’s wait for their first victory over the season will continue, with Sheffield Wednesday recording a 2-0 victory on their visit to Lancashire.

Bolton have endured a horrendous start to their Championship return, managing to pick up just two points from their opening 11 fixtures of the season, which leaves Phil Parkinson’s side cut adrift at the foot of the table.

The Trotters have suffered eight straight defeats in the Championship, and haven’t picked up a single point since mid-August.

Whilst Bolton’s confidence is low, Sheffield Wednesday will enter the contest flying high, after Carlos Carvalhal’s side picked up three points against Leeds United prior to the international break.

Pressure had been growing on Carvalhal after Wednesday failed to make a serious impression during the opening months, but a 3-0 victory over Leeds significantly lifted the mood around Hillsborough.

Wednesday are looking to close a four point gap on the Championship’s top-six this weekend.

The Verdict

For us, Prutton has got this result spot on. It is hard to see how Bolton stand any chance of picking up a positive result against Sheffield Wednesday at this current time.

Wednesday are full of confidence after their victory over Leeds, and Carvalhal will want another commanding display against the Championship strugglers.

These really are testing times for Bolton and Phil Parkinson.
