Chelsea are set to make a decision on the future of Tammy Abraham, after increased speculation linking the striker with a move to Wolves.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Blues will make a decision on the forward's future by January 14 after it emerged that there is a recall option in his contract that has to be triggered by a certain date.

Wolves have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Abraham who has been in excellent form for Aston Villa this season in the Championship.

The Chelsea loanee has 16 goals to his name in this year's campaign and without his goals, Villa wouldn't be in play-off contention.

Wolves boss, Nuno Espirito Santo has identified Abraham as one of his top targets and is hoping to make new additions in this transfer window.

"We have a squad and now we have to look at it. We have to analyse what we have in front of us and who can deliver these things," Nuno stated.

"Now we have the chance with the transfer window, and anything can happen."

However, Aston Villa remain confident that Chelsea will allow Abraham to stay out on loan with them for the rest of the season despite the speculation linking him with a move to Wolves.

The Verdict

This is an interesting development in this transfer saga.

It adds more pressure to Chelsea to conclude his future as quickly as possible, but it certainly won't be the last we've heard of this deal.

Despite Wolves' interest, I would be surprised to see Abraham have his loan deal terminated in the coming days, as he's thriving under Dean Smith at Aston Villa this season.
