Sky Bet Championship sides Leeds United and Bolton Wanderers have been fined by the Football Association after their fixture on the 23rd of February, the club have confirmed.

The Whites ran out 2-1 winners over the Trotters thanks to goals from Patrick Bamford and Gjanni Alioski, however it wasn't the football that grabbed the headlines after the game.

Following a robust challenge on Alioski by Bolton forward Josh Magennis, tempers flared in the dugouts between players and coaching staff, sparking fiery scenes at Elland Road. Bolton boss Phil Parkinson was sent to the stands that day, and has now been given a two-game touchline ban for his actions.

But Leeds have now confirmed that both clubs have been fined by the FA after failing to conduct themselves in an orderly fashion on the day - the Whites have been fined £5,000, whilst Bolton have been fined £8,000.

It's far from the first controversy involving Leeds this season, too, with the Spygate saga still fresh in the minds of many - though this fine is far less significant.

Leeds will be looking to put this behind them and pick up from where they left off after a 4-0 thumping over West Bromwich Albion last week - Marcelo Bielsa's men currently sit 2nd in the Sky Bet Championship table, two points off league leaders Norwich City.

The Verdict

This was always going to happen after such fiery scenes in the dugouts over a fortnight ago, and both clubs have seemingly taken the punishment having accepted the charges.

Leeds fans are bound to feel aggrieved after being reprimanded by the FA once again, however there is unlikely to be any disagreeing over this one.

It is a big blow for Bolton though, to have Parkinson missing from the touchline for the next two games could turn out to be very unhelpful indeed.
