There has been a lot of change at Sunderland in recent weeks with the club under new ownership and a new manager set to be appointed.
Stewart Donald completed his takeover of the club earlier in the week and his first major task was to appoint a new manager and he appears to have turned to St. Mirren boss Jack Ross - providing that's confirmed.
However, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, there will be more changes with the Black Cats' chief scout gone and Richard Hill set for a behind the scenes role.
He said:
"Richard Hill at Eastleigh in line for a behind scenes role. Chief scout gone... after revealing targets for next season to his new bosses."
Hill, who works at Eastleigh, knows Donald as he was the owner of the non-league side before taking over the Wearside outfit.
Nixon adds that he will come in for a chief scout who was replaced after revealing a list of targets to his new boss' which suggests they weren't very pleased with who he had in mind at all.
Sunderland's recruitment has attracted a lot of deserved criticism in recent years with manager after manager seemingly struggling to find players to turn things around.
The Verdict
Sunderland fans will be glad to hear this. As mentioned, recruitment has been a massive issue for the club over years and the chief scout has a big responsibility in who arrives.
If his targets aren't up to the standard needed, it's a ruthless move to get rid but exactly what they need to do.
Bringing in Hill is also a smart move as he is someone who the new board know and clearly trust.
