More bad news for Nottingham Forest as huge update emerges from club

Nottingham Forest could be set for more off-field woe with the news that owner Evangelos Marinakis has been charged with drug trafficking offences, according to the BBC.

According to reports from Greece, the BBC are reporting that Marinakis is facing charges for a supposed shipment of the illegal drug heroin, in 2014.

However, the 50-year-old Forest owner denies any wrong doing, and insists he will prove his innocence in the case and the charges being brought against him.

The Forest owner, who is also the owner of Greek giants Olympiakos, has told the Greek club’s official website that he is ‘innocent’ and has accused someone of making him the ‘victim of a plot’ in what could be something which has serious repurcussions for the Forest owner.

Marinakis took over at Forest when he successfully, and finally in a lot of Reds fans’ eyes, bought out previous owner Fawaz Al Hasawi.

The Greek supremo has so far showed considerable backing to the Reds and gave new manager Aitor Karanka plenty of budget in January to strengthen the ranks at the City Ground.

Forest fans, what do you make of this? Potential bad news for your club? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
