Morcambe are set to table an offer to sign former Fleetwood Town defender Alan Goodall, according to The Visitor.
Goodall, alongside centre forward Jon Parkin was released by Fleetwood at the end of the season after being told that he was not needed by Graham Alexander’s side, as the Cod Army look to push on following promotion to League One, following a dramatic play-off win over Burton at Wembley.
And his release has alerted fellow Fylde Coast side Morcambe, who are set to offer a contract after negotiating terms with the former Chesterfield player.
Morcambe are also set to take him on trial, to convince him to move to the Globe Arena.
Manager Jim Bentley stated to the paper that he hopes to sign the experienced defender.
Bentley said: “We’ll get a look at him and he’ll look at us.
“He’s got options and will be with us for a few days.
“He can play as a holding midfielder, a left back or a centre half.
“We need someone versatile to replace Tony Diagne in the squad and he’s a good player who’s got a winning mentality.”
