West Brom manager Darren Moore is confident that he can keep hold of young midfielder Rekeem Harper.

The teenager is out of contract in the summer, but following an impressive display in the Baggies' FA Cup third round win over Wigan, Moore is hoping that Harper will indeed tie himself down to the club in the not so distant future.

"I've worked with Rekeem since he was U12, so the place for him to fulfil his potential is here at the football club", Moore told the Express and Star.

"We are going to have more talks with him, settle him and his advisors down, because I'm under no doubt that this is the place for Rekeem Harper to develop and become a fully-fledged first team player."

Moore will be hoping to be rewarded for showing confidence in the youngster with some loyalty from Harper and his agents, and the youngster himself will no doubt be keen to kick on following his chance in the first team this afternoon.

The Baggies manager was delighted not just with Harper's showing in the win over the Latics, but was impressed too with the overall display of his side, who he said 'went about things in the right way' in what was a tough third round encounter on paper.

The Verdict

This will be good news all around for West Brom, and Harper certainly looks a top player in the making.

If Moore can harness his talent further and carry on developing his game, then there's as real chance West Brom have a top young player on their hands.

It's a big few months for the Baggies, with promotion a very realistic possibility heading into the new year.
