Nottingham Forest could turn their season into a push for promotion this weekend with a victory in their bitter derby with Derby County, where a Forest victory would put Philippe Montanier's side just one point behind their arch-nemesis.

Already six points off the top-six, Forest can't afford to fall further behind this weekend and it makes the derby a must win clash.

Win the game and Forest can climb the table, with Montanier's side showing their capabilities with a victory against league leaders Newcastle last week.

A similar result here will boost morale significantly and can get the faithful supporters at the City Ground dreaming of a return to the top-flight, whilst a defeat could be the start of another premature end to the season.

Fortunately, Montanier has plenty of talented players within his ranks and introducing these two members of his squad as substitutes could provide Forest with the trump card they require to emerge victorious this weekend.

Apostolos Vellios

The 24-year-old forward has been a regular feature for Forest this season, making 21 appearances in all competitions, but he hasn't quite found form in front of goal.

Off the bench against Derby though, he could wreak havoc amongst a tiring defence.

Vellios' goals this season have come in patterns, scoring in three consecutive matches back in September and then netting in back-to-back fixtures at the start of October.

Having found the net a few weeks ago against Barnsley, the omens are good for Montanier's side.

Mustapha Carayol

The experienced midfielder has featured just eight times for Forest this season but he can be a vital asset of the bench this weekend, helping Forest control the middle of the park after his introduction and steering the club towards a positive result.

He's vastly experienced in Championship football following time with Middlesbrough, Leeds and others but still needs to find his feet at the City Ground.

However, a positive performance here could put him on the track to become a more regular member of Montanier's squad.
