Birmingham City are rivalling Leeds United for the signature of striker Abel Hernandez, according to the Yorkshire Post.

The Uruguayan forward is a man in demand, and it seems like there is going to be a transfer tussle for the player.

Would Hernandez be a good signing for Garry Monk's Blues? Could they afford his wages?

We discuss....

Ben Barkworth

Hernandez would be an excellent signing for Birmingham because they need to improve their attack and he would be a statement of intent.

Chris Gallagher

I can't see this happening at all.

Obviously it would be a great signing for Birmingham as he is a huge upgrade on what they have and arguably one of the best strikers in the league.

However, financially it's difficult to understand how they could compete with the wages he will be offered. If they manage it though, what a signing!

Jay Williams

Birmingham will be nowhere near the relegation battle if this man comes in. Hernandez is a proven goal scorer at Championship level and if he stays fit all year, the Blues could be a force to be reckoned with.

The likes of Che Adams, Jota and Jacques Maghoma in behind Hernandez is a terrifying thought for Championship defenders.

Alfie Burns

Monk won’t be popular in Leeds if he pulls this off.

Hernandez is exactly what Leeds and Birmingham have been missing over the last 12 months.

The 27-year-old would be some coup for Birmingham. He would make a lot of difference.
