Garry Monk has been speaking to the media today ahead of Middlesbrough's clash with Barnsley in the Championship this weekend.

The men from the Riverside Stadium have not perhaps started how they should have this season with them outside the top six and in mid-table.

There is still plenty of time to turn things around and get themselves up the league, though, and Garry Monk and his men will be looking to do just that as the season enters a very busy period.

Speaking about the game this weekend, then, Monk has revealed that some of his stars have got the confidence flowing around them at the moment - thanks to the international break.

Via the club's official website he said:

"It's great to have internationals at the club and we're pleased for how they have represented their countries, and this club as well, especially the likes of Cyrus Christie, Darren Randolph and Dael Fry. They've come back in full of confidence and that can only be a good thing."

The likes of Cyrus Christie and Darren Randolph have been key in the Republic of Ireland's international games for the World Cup and their performance against Wales earlier this week should leave them buzzing.

Boro fans, then, will hope that translates into a good performance for them this weekend but they'll also have to avoid letting the emotion of that result carrying into this game against the Tykes.

The Verdict

Boro were one of the many sides to see players go away for the international break and it appears as though many of them had a successful time.

Garry Monk, then, needs to translate that into results for the club in the coming weeks.
