Garry Monk's Leeds United have shown signs of potentially being able to push for a long-awaited return to the Premier League but the Yorkshire outfit face a crucial few months in the season ahead, with the January transfer window playing a big part.

Sat ninth in the table and just a point off the Play-Off spots, the Whites are one of many promotion-chasing sides this season and the work to put them above the rest will come down to a number of factors.

Whilst securing the right signings in January is crucial, it's equally important that Leeds make the right decisions with outgoing players, with Monk faced with the challenge of keeping his squad competitive, intact and happy.

It's perhaps one of the most difficult challenges for a manager but the former Swansea City man will be confident of making the right calls - and we're here to help him with two players we believe he has to get rid of in January.

Hit Monk below to see TWO players Leeds United have to get rid of in January!

Luke Murphy

The 27-year-old former Crewe captain has fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road, simply down to the fact that Garry Monk's side possess better options in midfield, which seemingly leaves no way back for Luke Murphy into the Leeds side.

Given that situation, Murphy should be moved on in January and Leeds can expect some interest down to the fact there was minor interest in the summer.

Murphy himself would be happy to move on for more first-team football and this is the perfect scenario of keeping all parties happy, with him getting the football he wants and Leeds earning some money from a player they don't need.

Charlie Taylor

He may be one of Leeds United's brightest players under Garry Monk but Charlie Taylor has wasted no time in making it clear he still wants to move. Having seen a transfer request turned down in the summer, the 23-year-old has been very outspoken and Garry Monk should approve a sale before things get out of hand.

Taylor's contract expires next summer and he's extremely reluctant to pet pen to paper on a new deal, which means it's wise for Leeds to cash-in when the mid-season window comes around to ensure they don't lose the talented full-back on a free transfer next summer.

Whilst it would leave Monk's side with a hole to fill, selling Taylor is best for all involved.
