Former Leeds United manager Garry Monk is preparing to make moves on his old club and sign Liam Bridcutt, according to the Sun.

The new Middlesbrough manager is keen to bring in new additions to the Riverside and it makes sense for him to look at his old club in terms of the type of player he wants to sign.

Bridcutt only signed a permanent deal with Leeds during the last summer transfer window, completing a deal in August following a successful loan spell the season before. However, it now appears Monk is hoping to use some of the funds at his disposal at Boro, and tempt the former Sunderland man back to the North East.

Bridcutt made his name in the Championship with Brighton, where season upon season of consistent performances earned him a move to Sunderland. However, despite playing for the Black Cats, he never became a regular fixture, and Leeds took the chance on him in 2015 to reignite his career.

Monk meanwhile will be hoping to have a similar impact at Boro to that that he had at Leeds, where he led the club to an excellent season before just falling short of the playoffs with a miserable end of season run.
