Birmingham City manager Garry Monk has spoken to the Birmingham Mail, and given what appears to be his clearest marker yet that he wants to remain in charge of the Blues next season.

The Blues are hoping to cement their place in the Championship tomorrow with a final day victory, and barring a long list of results going against them, they should well remain in the second tier next season.

However, speculation has been rife over the future of Garry Monk ever since he took over at St Andrews, but he has appeared to give a firm indicator in his latest interview that he is in the Midlands to stay.

“Right now all I care about is this game. For sure I came here not just for this reason but for the future as well. I am Birmingham City manager, my job is to keep these in the league and build something good here. That’s my only thought process. I truly believe that we will be in the league, I truly believe the lads have done fantastically up to this point." said Monk.

The Blues manager has turned things round somewhat with big wins taking over, and he will no doubt be keen to push the club back towards being a top half team at the very least next season following a couple of miserable seasons.

The club invested a lot in the summer on new players but a lot of those signings have not paid off this term. Monk will be hoping to reshape his squad in the summer if he does indeed stay.
