Leeds United and Aston Villa may have played out another fascinating, dramatic and controversial encounter at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon, but ultimately, it was all very, very pointless.

With Sheffield United having dispatched Ipswich Town less than 24 hours previously, even a Leeds win against Villa would have left them needing a mammoth goal swing on the final day to jump above their Yorkshire rivals.

And so, to the play-offs and, with it, an immediate headache for Marcelo Bielsa.

In the midst of a scuffle following the Whites' controversial opener on Sunday, in which the visitors thought their hosts were going to play the ball out for the stricken Jonathan Kodjia only to carry on playing, striker Patrick Bamford got stuck in.

Whilst trying to 'restrain' Anwar El Ghazi, with something just short of a headlock, the Dutchman wrestled free and Bamford hit the deck, clutching his face.

On closer inspection, there was no contact, but still El Ghazi was sent off. Bamford had surely successfully deceived the referee which, by the FA's laws, should bring with it a two-game ban.

So, what is the solution? Well, logic would dictate that the fit-again Kemar Roofe would come straight back into the fold, although if Monday's Under-23s clash with Coventry City is anything to go by, we could be about to see the lesser-spotted Izzy Brown attempt save the day.

Signed back in the summer from Chelsea on a season-long loan, Brown has struggled horrendously with injury, making just one first-team appearance.

On Monday, however, he was again given a run-out in the reserves but this time used as a lone striker in Carlos Corberan's team.

As a versatile attacker it is a position that Brown has played before - 26 times according to Transfermarkt - and Bielsa is not averse to trying players in different positions.

With Plan A looking set for suspension and Plan B giving no sure signs of being back to his best, it may be time for Bielsa to turn to Plan C - operation Izzy.
