Sheffield United have the chance to get back to winning ways this afternoon after their humbling defeat against Wolves last week.

The league leaders ran riot at Molineux, deservedly winning 3-0. Afterwards, Chris Wilder admitted the best side had won and chose to heap praise on the hosts.

Whilst some fans may have been disappointed at the manner in which the Blades lost, it can be turned into a positive and used as a marker for the remainder of the season.

Quite simply, they were outclassed, but that can happen against Wolves and Wilder and the players took the defeat on the chin.

However, as the manager stressed to point out, it was the only time this season that his side had felt they were outplayed and even though it was a brutal reality check, it shows how far they have come.

Many of these players were featuring in League One last season and their fine start to life in the Championship may have created unrealistic expectations of the Yorkshire club.

The reality is they are still overachieving by pushing for the play-off place and despite their recent form a top six finish is a real possibility.

Wilder has assembled a talented squad but the main strength of the Blades has been the togetherness and work ethic that they displayed.

With such a strong mentality in the squad, they will be able to dismiss the Wolves loss and instead focus on how they’ve competed against the rest.

You get the feeling it is sink or swim time for Sheffield United and last week’s defeat will have focused the minds to realise exactly how good they have to be for the run-in.

And, what better place to start than a feisty Yorkshire derby against Leeds United at Bramall Lane.
